[ACT] Trails Blocked in Cobb Estate

Can you pass on that the Forest Service is trying to get a meeting setup
with the community to discuss the recent use of brush to disguise trails,
etc. It will be set up along the lines of a listening session. We are
trying to get the Loma Alta Rec Center so if anyone has a contact that
would help......the handlines that were cut during the fire are being
turned into trails, there are parallel trails that are redundant, etc. We
are trying to reduce the proliferation of trails out there and help the
area heal.

Once we get the meeting setup, we will send out the information. Feel
free to contact me about this matter.

Ross, Other Equestrians and Trail Users who have seen the changes in the
Cobb Estate segments of the ACT,

Please come to the Altadena Crest Trail Restoration Working Group (ACTRWG)
Steering Committee Meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday), 8 Feb at 7:00pm in
the Altadena Community Center (on Altadena Drive just west of Lake across
the street from Rite Aid and next to the Altadena Sheriffs Station). Bring
photos, if possible, of the trail changes to share. We will discuss
options and try to find out what has happened and why, and ask the
appropriate agency(ies) to correct.

I am copying the County and USFS reps regarding blockage of trail access
in the Cobb Estate area. They may be busy with rain-related activities;
however, I hope reps will be in attendance to answer questions about this
matter and to report on other trail conditions.

Thanks for your info.

Another well meaning stupid project...

Put Outward or Upward Bound kids to work at the Cobb Estate blocking the
horse trails with logs and pungi sticks. The idea was so the Audabon
Society signs are not graffetied. Huh? Still trying to make sense out of
this one. Maybe the taggers are riding horses now. Another excuse is
erosion control but the blocked trails were away from pedestrian walkways
and were hardpacked and there forever. Now they have been dug up, trenched
and trashed with branches logs and holes. I thought this was a part of the
ACT... what gives? Is the USFS in charge here?

Many horse guys super upset.

Ross
