The Trail Documentation Project (TDP) is getting underway! We will be collecting and publishing information on trails in the San Gabriel Valley and Verdugo Mountains area. We would like to catalog names of trails and trailheads, with descriptions and contact information when appropriate.

If you have a favorite trail, or have been keeping a list of trails, please share it with us! We'll collect the information and republish it on the web site as a catalog of our great equestrian resources. Contact Dianne Lockhart with information or questions.

Randy Hammock of ETI Corral 20 has been working on mapping the San Fernando Valley foothills using a GPS receiver and developing techniques for displaying the results. See Randy's map web site for his current list of maps.

Altadena

The Altadena Crest Trail runs across the foothills above Altadena, potentially connecting Hahamongna (Oak Grove) Park on the west with Eaton Canyon on the east. The trail is broken in several places, but the segment from the Cobb Estate at the top of Lake Street allows an hour of riding on mostly gentle grades.

La Canada Flintridge

The La Canada Flintridge Trails Council has a nice map of trails in and around their town. Send $1.00 and your return address to:

Pasadena

There are tie rails and water at Brookside Park, at the northeast corner of the Rose Bowl up against the fence for the golf course. The golf course clubhouse has a nice informal restaurant with inexpensive good food, and welcomes equestrians (at least those who leave their horses at the tie rails!).

South Pasadena

Trailheads are at San Pascual Stables and Arroyo Seco Stables on the north and south ends of town, respectively.
