AER is a community-based equestrian organization dedicated to promoting and expanding the Altadena foothills trail system and other local resources such as the riding arena at Loma Alta Park. Check the Altadena Equestrian Resources web site for details. Contact Amanda Freeman for more information.
La Canada Flintridge has a long history of equestrian activity from back yard horsekeeping to Olympic-class competition. The city is strongly supportive of equestrian trails in the community. The Trails Council has a nice map of trails in and around their town. Send $1.00 and a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team (www.amrt.org) operates all day, every day and is the rescue Team responsible for the Altadena area.
AMRT was founded in 1951 and is the oldest backcountry rescue organization in the area. Many trail users have seen them either on operations or training in the local trails and canyons; hard to miss the red shirts. AMRT is non-profit and completely volunteer. Members typically devote hundreds of hours each year on searches, rescues and technical training.
ECHO is a local organization fighting to keep the equestrian nature of the Chatsworth area. It is facing incredible development pressures and a sadly developer-friendly City of Los Angeles is allowing it to happen, despite past promises to this equestrian-designated area.
ETI is a national organization founded in 1944. Corral 2, founded in 1948, is the oldest active chapter in the organization, and we are proud of our long history of service to the equestrian community. More information about our history is available here.
ETI Corral 20 is active in the north San Fernando Valley.
The Jr. Posse Youth Equestrian Program is a non-profit based in Compton. They are a year-round anti-gang program for inner city youth and do trail rides, parades, camping trips, ETI, etc. They teach both English and Western disciplines and participate with groups from Malibu to San Diego. A state-wide coalition of equestrian groups with the goal of more effectively representing the equestrian community at the state level. See the Coalition web site for more information.
The California State Horsemen's Association has information on political issues as well as overviews on equine medical topics, such as enterolithiasis and human risks associated with horse manure.
